FAQs

Do I get diagnosed with ADHD after 1 appointment?

  • Not necessarily (But usually in the second appointment). It depends on the complexity and collateral information provided at the assessment time and if further information would be required to assist with the diagnostic process.

What do I need to aid the diagnostic process?

  • Please complete the pre-assessment form sent and the collateral information requested at the time of booking. It will be beneficial to provide any previous school reports, allied health assessments, or psychologist reports. It will also be helpful to bring a family member along during the appointment for collateral. If they cannot be present for the appointment, you can also provide a supporting letter from your loved ones (1-2 paragraphs) regarding your struggles.

Can I see my GP for ongoing follow-up or do I have to continue following up with the clinic?

  • This would depend on your GP, personal preference, and geographical location. Your GP can prescribe any treatment recommended by the psychiatrist. Should our psychiatrist recommend stimulants for ADHD, your GP will need to apply for a ‘permit’ to prescribe these, and once they receive this, they can commence prescribing.
